TEACHING PHILOSOPHY The Guitar Lab was built around the philosophy that learning is best achieved through practical hands-on experience with quality instructors. Equally crucial to learning is a facility, which provides state-of-the-art equipment in a fun and professional atmosphere. This unique environment allows students to experience all aspects of music, including songwriting, performing and recording.
LESSONS We offer guitar, bass, piano, and drum lessons, Kindermusik classes and hope to add other musical instrument instruction in the near future. The Guitar Lab has become a magnet for the best instructors in the tri-state area. Our unique learning center and dedication to providing the highest quality instruction to our students attracts teachers with the same level of dedication. The Guitar Lab’s instructors are constantly working to better themselves as musicians and teachers. Our teachers meet regularly to provide peer training, develop lesson material and discuss better ways to provide instruction to their students. To enhance the learning experience, The Guitar Lab maintains a computer database of lesson materials that all teachers can access and share with their students. Guitar lessons are offered in individual or group instruction for any level of student. During individual lessons, students learn basic skills and theory along with songs of their choice. All individual teaching rooms are equipped with computers and Internet access. Teachers can tap into our extensive lesson material database or use various Internet resources to find learning material. Individual lessons allow students to work at their own pace. Group instruction emphasizes ensemble play. Students develop skills necessary to play specific songs and techniques for performing with others. Playing with other musicians stimulates the learning process. Group instruction in songwriting, performance, recording, beginning, and advanced guitar are offered based on student demand. The Guitar Lab offers music clinics and workshops that are hosted by The Guitar Lab instructors as well as other industry professionals. Topics include finger-style techniques, flat-picking technique, scales and modes, song writing and audio production. Previous clinics and performances have included musicians, Bob Lucus, Orin Star and Chris Proctor.
